I would come right back with Khudobin as he is in a groove. Bad first goal last night but the Caps broadcasters thought he won the game for the Canes. Gooe to see him bounce right back after that one. Gerbe was the biggest guy on the ice last night, lol. Once again stay out of the box and you can beat the Kings. Have a great weekend with your son Matt Really look forward to your blogs every morning.

I agree, he is in a groove. Another plus would be a more fair comparison for Cam...doesn't seem fair people are down on him vs. Dobby when you look at which teams each are playing against. If the every other game rotation continues, then Dobby: Flyers, Caps, Cyotes; while Cam: Detroit, Pitt, LA, Chicago. I don't care who you are as a goalie, the lineup Cam would be stuck with is going to give you problems.

I agree that it is important not to start doing too deep of analysis and planning based on a couple games. I don't focus as much on win/loss (because it is often a function of the team and opponent) but more on my thoughts on how a goalie played. I thought Ward was good against Detroit coming within 16 seconds of a solid 2-1 win against a good team. The end result tarnished the result a bit, but he still played well. I did not think he was good against Pittsburgh, but then they are going to do that to a lot of goalies this year.

Khudobin has been nearly flawless as evidenced by his 2-0 record, 1.50 GAA and something like .94X save %.

As long as the backup is playing as well as Khudobin is, I would keep getting him regular starts. Canes have missed in this regard in the past. Priority #1 is to give yourself the best chance to win. And splitting starts evenly should keep both goalies fresh throughout the season.

What gives here, Matt writes a beauty blog everyday and no Canes fans on here to speak of??? Somebody should advertise Hockey Buzz in Carolina
This coming from a Flyers fan who has a couple favourites in Carolina and that is why I am here everyday. C'mon Canes fans get it the game! (Murphy, Gerbe, Hainsey and Khudobin are my guys) Great job Matt.

Cams problems in the SO and 1 on 1 breakaway's is still a huge concern ,and Imo Dobby should continue getting 50% of the starts until Cam has proven he deserves it. Muller should have SO in practice every time until this improves which is a lot like the anemic PP that has been a problem for year's. also Harrison's Rosey-ish penalty's are back breaking ,so some Press box time might help.

Do you think Murphy would've been any worse? I doubt it ,but Muller wanted a bigger lineup vs the Kings yeah sure a good idea ,but the team sure needed his puck moving ,and a look in the SO wouldn't have hurt either ,and this kid continues to get better every game ,and the more confidence he get's he will figure out he can use his speed effectively in skating the puck in the O-zone. Murphy has the shifty elusiveness that you can't teach ,and is more physical than I ever thought which was a surprise ,and definitely needs to stay in Raleigh.
